Café/Bar Hotel Madrid - Oldtown Las Palmas

Café/Bar Hotel Madrid

On the Plaza Cairasco, which is right beside the Gabinete Literario in the middle of the old part of Las Palmas, you can find the Café Madrid. Although it was already founded in 1910, this Café has kept its charm for almost 100 years.

The Café is separated into an outdoor area and a non-smoking indoor area. The walls inside are furnished with pictures of the owners Vladimir and Paco, and guests who like to come here. Besides, there are some old adverts at the back next to the only bar in the room. The furniture is wooden and the entire Café makes a cosy and comfortable impression.

But it is not only a Café. There is also a small hotel called Hotel Madrid which has 17 rooms. A double room with bathroom and toilet costs 45€ per night. It is also possible to engage a room without bathroom and toilet for 35€ per night. In this case you have to use the sanitary installations on the corridor. You can also get a single room for 30€ per night. Many famous people have already stayed at this hotel, such as the Spanish dictator Franco or the whole film crew of the Moby Dick movies. Many of the famous guests can be found on the pictures on the walls of the Café.

You can have drinks or meals in a nice atmosphere inside the Café. They are offering a daily meal with Canarian specialties for 9.50€. If you do not have the time for a three-course meal, you can at least treat yourself to a pizza, lasagne, spaghetti etc. The prices for both drinks and meals are fairly reasonable: a cup of coffee costs 1.20€, and soft drinks and beers cost 2€.

If you happen to like the Café, you are welcome to stay until the evening to enjoy a mixed drink like Rum&Coke for 5€, because the Madrid is a Café, Hotel and Bar.
