Body board and surf spots in San Cristobal
Surfing in the fishing village
The beach with its 3 spots is located in the South of the city, halfway to Playa de la Laja. Once you make out a strange brick tower amidst the breaking waves, you have reached your destination. There you are spoilt for choice: El Muelle, El Caleton, El Castillo or Las Monjas. Choose your wave.
This is the local beach of a pristine and lovely fishing village. The setting is slightly derelict, but charming nonetheless. The houses were built so close to the sea that, at times, the surge splashes up to the window panes; this was done so that the fishermen’s early-morning march from their bed to their implement (the boat) would not take too long.
Wave directly next to a centenarian stone tower. Fascinating, unique setting. Very popular especially among body boarders. Access via cliffs and rocks. We recommend keeping a close eye on the locals or, rather, their surfboards in order to get to become more acquainted with the site.
