Café Castillo de la Luz – district La Isleta
Stop in the authentic Las Palmas
The Café in the gardens of the hundreds of years’ old Castillo de la Luz is the ideal place to relax and refresh yourself after exploring the harbour Puerto de la Luz and the remaining sights of the district La Isleta. The park around the castle is one of the quietest in the city, which is more than you can say for the surrounding districts with their narrow alleys. The shopping street Rejon also passes the Café.
Hundreds of rose bushes are in bloom around the Café and the relaxing noise of the trick fountains shield it from the traffic noise and thus make the park of the Castillo de la Luz to a truly green oasis in the usually dusty, poor and often run-down district La Isleta.
You should not expect any culinary specialties in this Café, but you can get snacks like pizzas (about 4€), sandwiches, paella, croissants, crisps and different sweets for a reasonable price. The cool, Brazilian “Batidos” or fruit juices (such as Mango, Guava, Strawberry, Passion Fruit, Pineapple and Papaya) are also worth mentioning which cost 2€ and are really delicious.
