Gran Canaria to UK Flights: Today’s Departure Board
Flights to London, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow and more – today and tomorrow
Gran Canaria departures to the UK for today and tomorrow, filtered from the full LPA board: every direct flight to England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland with time, airline and live status. Notes on passport checks, duty-free allowances, compensation and getting to the terminal round it off.
UK departures at a glance
Gran Canaria departures to the UK are pulled together on this page: out of every flight leaving Gran Canaria Airport (LPA), only those bound for airports in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are listed – today's and tomorrow's. That saves scrolling through the complete Las Palmas departure board, which also covers mainland Spain, the neighbouring islands, Germany, Scandinavia and West Africa.
Each row shows the scheduled departure time, flight number, airline, UK destination and the latest status.

All times in Gran Canaria local time. Live flight data — gates and times may change at short notice. As of:
Times are shown in Canary Islands local time – which is exactly the same as UK time. The departure screens in the terminal and your airline's app always have the final word on gates and boarding.
Missed your flight or need to get home today?
Whether a flight has been cancelled, a connection has gone wrong or something has come up at home, today's table above shows every direct flight to the UK still due to leave. Gran Canaria has links to a long list of UK airports, so it is often worth looking beyond your usual one – a flight to a different airport in England may get you home sooner than waiting until tomorrow. Only the airline can confirm whether seats are still available.
If today's flights have all gone, tomorrow's table lists the earliest options. Alternatively, there are connections via Madrid or Barcelona on the Spanish mainland.
UK airports with direct flights from Gran Canaria
Gran Canaria is one of the most popular winter sun destinations for British holidaymakers, and the number of routes reflects that. Strictly speaking, Great Britain (GB) covers England, Scotland and Wales, while the United Kingdom (UK) also includes Northern Ireland – this page covers all four nations.
| Nation | Airport | Code |
|---|---|---|
| England | London Gatwick | LGW |
| London Luton | LTN | |
| London Stansted | STN | |
| Manchester | MAN | |
| Birmingham | BHX | |
| Bristol | BRS | |
| East Midlands | EMA | |
| Leeds Bradford | LBA | |
| Newcastle | NCL | |
| Liverpool | LPL | |
| Bournemouth | BOH | |
| Exeter | EXT | |
| Scotland | Edinburgh | EDI |
| Glasgow | GLA | |
| Glasgow Prestwick | PIK | |
| Wales | Cardiff | CWL |
| Northern Ireland | Belfast International | BFS |
The main carriers are Jet2.com, TUI, easyJet and Ryanair, with British Airways flying from Gatwick. Many Jet2 and TUI flights are part of package holidays but can usually be booked as flight-only too. Several regional routes run in the winter season only – which airline is flying to which airport on a given day is shown on the live board. Flights to Dublin, Cork and the rest of the Republic of Ireland have their own page: departures to Ireland.
How long is the flight – and what time is it at home?
The flight home covers roughly 2,800 to 2,900 kilometres to Bristol and the London airports, just over 3,000 kilometres to Manchester and Belfast, and around 3,200 kilometres to Newcastle, Glasgow and Edinburgh. Allow about four hours to the south of England and up to around four and a half hours to Scotland, depending on the headwind.
There is no time difference to worry about: Gran Canaria and the UK run on the same clock all year, and both put the clocks forward and back on the same weekends. Leave Gran Canaria at 15:00 and it is 15:00 in Manchester too – handy for whoever is picking you up.
What the departure screens mean
The screens at the airport switch between Spanish and English. These are the terms you are most likely to see:
| On screen (Spanish) | In English | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Programado | Scheduled | Nothing yet – the flight is due to leave on time |
| Retrasado | Delayed | Check the new time and keep an eye on the screens |
| Embarcando | Boarding | Head to your gate now |
| Última llamada | Final call | Get to the gate immediately – it is about to close |
| Cerrado | Gate closed | Boarding has finished |
| Despegado | Departed | The aircraft is airborne |
| Cancelado | Cancelled | Go to the airline desk or app to rebook |
Passport control, EES and duty-free on the way home
Gran Canaria Airport has one terminal, with check-in desks and security on the departures level. Because the UK is outside both the EU and the Schengen Area, flights to the UK leave from the non-Schengen gates, and everyone goes through passport control after security. Airlines usually advise arriving around two hours before departure; on busy winter weekends and at the start of the school holidays, the queues at security and passport control can be long.
British passport holders are processed under the EU's Entry/Exit System (EES), which records entries and exits digitally instead of stamping passports. On the way out, your passport is scanned and your exit logged. A national ID card is not accepted for UK citizens – you need your passport.
When stocking up on duty-free before the flight, the UK's personal allowances for alcohol and tobacco apply on arrival, just as for any trip abroad since Brexit. Current limits are listed on GOV.UK.
Delayed or cancelled: what you can claim
Every flight leaving Gran Canaria falls under EU Regulation (EC) No 261/2004, whichever airline you fly with. All UK routes are between 1,500 and 3,500 kilometres, so if you arrive at least three hours late or your flight is cancelled at short notice, compensation of 400 euros per passenger may be due. The exception is extraordinary circumstances outside the airline's control, such as severe weather, calima with poor visibility or an air traffic control strike. Passengers flying with a UK airline may claim under the UK version of the rules (UK261) instead – but not under both.
During long delays, the airline also has to provide food and drink and, if you are stuck overnight, a hotel room and transport to it. Keep your boarding pass, receipts and a screenshot of the delay. This is general guidance, not legal advice.

Usually, yes – Gran Canaria has direct flights to a long list of UK airports. Check today's table on the live board above. If nothing suitable is left, tomorrow's table shows the next options. Only the airline can confirm whether seats are still available.
About four hours to the London airports and a little longer to Manchester, depending on the wind. Flights to Scotland take up to around four and a half hours.
Yes. The Canary Islands keep the same time as the UK all year round, and the clocks change on the same weekends. The departure time on the board is therefore also UK time.
As the UK is outside the EU and the Schengen Area, every passenger to the UK goes through passport control after security. British passports are checked under the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), which records your exit digitally. Allow extra time, especially on busy winter weekends.
Flights leaving Gran Canaria are covered by EU Regulation 261/2004, whatever the airline. If you reach the UK at least three hours late, or your flight is cancelled at short notice, you may be able to claim 400 euros per person – unless the delay was caused by extraordinary circumstances such as severe weather or an air traffic control strike.
Yes. Northern Ireland is part of the UK, so flights to Belfast appear on this board. Flights to Dublin, Cork and other airports in the Republic of Ireland are on our page for departures to Ireland.
