Gran Canaria Airport Transfer: Your Questions Answered
What to know about booking, pricing and meeting your driver at LPA
Booking closes at 5pm the day before travel. Prices are fixed per journey, not per person, with no extra charges for luggage or child seats. Find out where to meet your driver, what happens if your flight is delayed, and how to change or cancel your booking free of charge.
Wondering how a private airport transfer on Gran Canaria actually works? By when do you need to book, what happens if your flight is delayed, and how do you pay? The most common questions about our transfers from Gran Canaria airport — answered briefly.
You can book, change or cancel a journey for the next day up to 5pm local time on the day before. After that, vehicle assignments for the following day are complete. For last-minute requests, please call us — written requests will no longer reach us in time.
Booking
How does booking through the online form work?
As soon as you submit the form, you'll get an immediate email with all the details you entered. This first email is not a booking confirmation yet. We check every request by hand, because flight numbers, times or destination addresses are easy to mistype.
Reply to that email with the full names of all passengers. Please also correct or add anything that isn't right. You'll then receive your binding confirmation. If we have any questions, we'll get in touch by email.
Requests are processed manually, usually within a few hours.
By when do I need to book?
By 5pm local time on the day before your journey. Up to that point, we accept bookings, changes and cancellations.
The reason is scheduling: vehicles and drivers for the next day are assigned in the late afternoon. Requests that reach us overnight usually can't be fitted in any more.
The booking form automatically rejects dates past the deadline and suggests the next available day.
Can I book without using the form?
Yes. Just email us directly at transfer-changes@las-palmas-24.com.
For an airport pickup, we need:
- Your flight number, or departure airport and airline
- Date and official landing time
- Number of passengers; for children, also age or weight
- Destination: hotel name, address, or at least the fare zone
- Luggage: hand luggage only, or bulky items such as a surfboard, bike or golf bag
We'd rather not take bookings by phone call, WhatsApp or SMS. These are harder to track and increase the risk of errors. For last-minute changes, however, the phone is the right channel.
How do I check if my transfer is confirmed?
Every email we send includes your booking code and a link to a status page. There you can see the current status of all transfers in your booking at any time: request received, confirmed, updated or cancelled.
The status page is available in German, English and Spanish and doesn't need an account — the booking code is enough.
Prices and Vehicles
Is the price per person? Is the return trip included?
Our prices are total prices for all passengers travelling together and apply per journey. The return trip costs the same as the outbound trip, as long as the fare zone doesn't change and no extra passengers join.
There are no surcharges — not for luggage, not for child seats, not for weekends, public holidays or night transfers.
Outbound and return are charged separately, because they may be driven by different drivers.
How do I pay?
Usually in cash to the driver on arrival, at the price shown on your booking confirmation.
Card payment is possible on request, but must be agreed when you book — not every vehicle carries a card reader.
Taxi or minibus — which vehicle do I need?
In taxis and saloon cars — both count as passenger cars — a maximum of three passengers can travel alongside the driver. By law, every baby counts as a passenger.
From four passengers upward, a van or minibus with the appropriate number of seats is required. This is a licensing rule, not just a matter of space.
How much luggage can I bring?
We plan for one large suitcase and one piece of hand luggage per passenger as standard. That way, the right vehicle is chosen without you needing to specify anything.
If you have more luggage — say, two people with four large suitcases — please note this in the comments field. A bigger vehicle may then be needed, and we'd rather plan that in advance than find out at the airport that the boot doesn't fit everything.
Travelling with hand luggage only? Tick "Hand luggage only" on the form. Then we know you'll skip the baggage hall and be in the arrivals hall well ahead of other passengers — the driver can plan for that.
Bulky luggage: surfboard, bike, golf bag?
A surfboard or a boxed bicycle needs at least a minibus. A simple rule for choosing your vehicle: treat each bulky item like an extra passenger.
On the form, you can specify a bike, surfboard, golf bag, pram or walking frame directly. For anything else, please use the comments field — we'll then find the most practical way to transport it.
Children and babies: car seats, age, price?
Please always give the age and height or weight of any children travelling. We provide the right child seat or booster automatically and free of charge.
Under Spanish law, a restraint system is required for all children under 135cm in height. As a rule of thumb, that covers children up to around twelve years old.
The number of children doesn't affect the price. For vehicle size, however, children and babies count the same as adults.
At the Airport and En Route
Where do I meet my driver at the airport?
At Gran Canaria airport, you'll first walk through the baggage hall with the luggage belts, then leave through the exit on the right. Exactly where your driver waits depends on how you arrive:
- Arriving on a direct flight: in the International arrivals hall, in front of desk 6 (Groundforce), near the Spar shop.
- Arriving via a connecting flight through mainland Spain (for example via Madrid): at the exit of the baggage hall in the "National" terminal.
Your driver, or one of our transfer coordinators, will be waiting there with a name sign showing your name.
The vehicle itself is parked in the outdoor area in front of the arrivals hall. The driver helps you with your luggage and takes you straight to your destination, with no stops.
Can't find your driver straight away? Please call our coordination team in Las Palmas, or the driver dispatch line. The numbers are on your booking confirmation.
For cruise-port transfers, the meeting point is at the terminal, not at the taxi rank.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
We track your arrival using your flight number. That's why, for arrival transfers, we always ask for the flight number and the official landing time — not the time you expect to walk out.
For normal delays, the driver simply waits — no action needed from you. If your flight is diverted or cancelled, please call us as early as possible so we can rearrange things.
Will I be taken directly to my hotel?
Yes, always to the address you booked — and, if arranged, picked up there again for the return. If your destination is in a pedestrian zone, we'll drive as close as possible.
If you're only booking the airport pickup, you don't need to give a pickup address.
The price depends solely on the fare zone of your destination, and for minibuses, also on the number of passengers.
What if my driver is late?
Our drivers aim to be on time, partly in their own interest: a wasted trip costs them money, and it puts their next job at risk. Pickup times for return transfers already include a generous buffer, so a few minutes' wait usually isn't a concern.
Occasionally, a driver waits at a different entrance — some accommodation complexes have more than one. In rare cases, longer delays occur, for example due to a road accident causing a full closure. Our dispatch team sorts this out immediately and sends a replacement vehicle if needed.
If no driver has shown up after five minutes, please call the mobile number on your confirmation.
I left something in the vehicle — what now?
Please call our dispatch team or the booking office in Las Palmas as soon as possible. We will contact the driver straight away.
On departure transfers, the driver will turn back if not already too far away. On arrival transfers, one of our drivers will drop the item off at your accommodation's reception on the next available trip.
Please note: we cannot accept liability for items left in the vehicle.
Changes, Cancellations and Special Cases
How do I change or cancel my booking?
Written changes and cancellations are possible up to 5pm the day before, free of charge. Email transfer-changes@las-palmas-24.com.
After that, or for last-minute requests — for example, "Could we be picked up an hour earlier?" — you can only reach us by phone, SMS or WhatsApp. During high season and at weekends, this isn't always possible, as vehicles can be fully booked.
Can wheelchair users be transported?
We can transport wheelchair users who can sit independently in a vehicle seat and whose wheelchair or walking aid is foldable. Under IATA categories, this corresponds to WCHR and WCHS.
Passengers who need to remain seated in their wheelchair during transport, or who need to be carried to the seat — category WCHC — cannot be accommodated for technical reasons. For these cases, we recommend the specialist services of Fundación Gran Canaria Accesible.
Please always mention accessibility needs when booking, so we can assign a suitable vehicle.
Are all the vehicles officially licensed?
Yes. All our drivers and vehicles are licensed and hold the required permits. We don't use so-called "pirate taxis".
Officially licensed airport transfer vehicles can be identified by their blue number plate.
