Las Monjas surfspot
Gran Canaria surf over volcanic reefs.
Starting from the city center surf spot El Confital and La Punta is passed and finally at the end of the peninsula La Isleta come to surf spot de Las Monjas. Cuidado! Caution! The entrance and surf happens over Vulcan reefs and rocks. This surf spot is located in the middle of a scanty volcano landscape. Beside stones, cacti, fishing boats and on the Vulcan reef breaking waves there’s a wonderful view to the "Skyline of Las Palmas".
From this aggressive and for beginners dangerous surf spot an amazing view over Confital beach and the "Skyline" of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is possible. Just a few kilometers away from the lively city calming silence is reigning which remembers of the neighbor isles Fuerteventura and Lanzarote.
When walking away from the surf spot just a few meters further, you can be found yourself in a desert like, skimpy landscape again. There you can wonderfully unbend and enjoy the unlimited ease after surfing. This calm and nature-related face of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is surly known by just a few tourists.
Even though getting bored in this region is hardly possible; already the serrated erupted rocks are sensational. The air is fulfilled with fine, salty Water powder due to the waves and the brawling makes every communication compulsory to a shouting duel.
Although the city is still in reach (just 3km away) you are already right in the middle of Canarias wilderness. Crayfishes, exotic birds, cacti, lava reefs, a smooth airflow and lots of "Gran Canaria Surf" which is the Surf spot of Las Monjas.
